Our Communities

We serve the following areas, all featuring abundant wilderness lands available for all forms of recreation- hiking, fishing, hunting, bird watching, deer & moose watching, cross-country skiing, and groomed snowmobiling to name a few.

NEW HAMPSHIRE

Clarksville, NH situated along NH Route 145 and Route 3, presents scenic splendor on every hand. The unexpected valleys and notches, rolling farmlands and grazing cattle recall the pastoral New England of yesteryear.. Clarksville Pond lies within its boundaries.

Colebrook, NH at the junction of the Connecticut and Mohawk Rivers, known as 'A Village with a View', is a member of the New Hampshire Main Street Program. Its western view is dominated by Vermont's Mt. Monadnock, which has at times echoed to the war cries of the Indian and the songs and lusty brawls of the lumberjack. The last of the great log drives are part of its history.  The town serves as a hub of the North Country for visitors and locals alike, as roads from Maine, Vermont, New York, Montreal and Quebec all converge here with the eastern approach to the town through famous Dixville Notch by Lake Gloriette.   Although a frontier town, Colebrook provides a modern shopping center with restaurants, stores, services and banks. A small airport serves the needs of private aircraft and a commercial airport is 40 miles away.

Columbia, NH the southern gateway to this area, boasts one of the covered bridges spanning the upper Connecticut River. The beautiful Shrine of Our Lady of Grace is spread over 35 acres of landscaped grounds and draws many visitors for an interesting walk around the property and an annual "Blessing of the Bikes" each June.

Dixville Notch, NH renowned for being the first town in the country to announce its presidential election results, is also a mountain pass of incredible drama and beauty featuring Lake Gloriette and hiking paths up Table Rock.  Recreational activities abound at its world-class resort featuring a grand hotel, ski mountain, golf course and miles of trails.  The resort known as the Balsams has recently changed hands and is currently closed for renovations.

Errol, NH the eastern gateway to Dixville Notch, boasts a small airport, motels, cottages and campgrounds from which to explore miles of wilderness trails via snowmobile and picturesque Lake Umbagog via canoe.  A large sporting goods store is located at the center of the small town.  The "Thirteen Mile Woods" is a popular moose viewing region that follows the length of the Androscoggin River down Route 16 from Errol into Milan and then Berlin. Moose can also be seen in the muddy low-lying land on the sides of the roads traveling from Millsfield to Errol on Route 26.

Pittsburg, NH and the Connecticut Lakes Region feature the North Country's world class fishing and hunting grounds. Here the mighty Connecticut River is born, forming in its passage, the Third, Second and First Connecticut Lakes and Lake Francis. Back Lake drains into the Connecticut River in Pittsburg Village, the gateway to the historic "Indian Stream Territory," a former independent nation established in 1832 during the border dispute between Canada and the U.S. The largest township in all of the U.S., it contains over 300,000 acres of timberlands, mountains, lakes, streams and forest trails to explore and borders Canada.  The town is dotted with hospitable lodging establishments for guests to choose from and is often busy during the winter season when snowmobiling is very popular.

(North) Stratford, NH is well known for its groomed ATV trails and dog sled racing. A small former mill town, it  features it's own close-knit K-8 school and a handful of steadfast businesses.

(West) Stewartstown, NH is a small, picturesque village bordered on the east by deep woodlands and on the west by the Connecticut River. Geographically located on the 45th Parallel, it is in fact "halfway between the North Pole and the Equator." The river, along with Big and Little Diamond Ponds, has lured many fishermen over the years. Visitors will find a small market community ready to serve their needs.

VERMONT

Averill, VT is one of the unorganized towns of Essex County. It is home to Great Averill, Little Averill and Forest Lakes. This area is beautiful, quiet and great for vacationing. Imagine yourself atop Averill Mountain looking down at the green trees and sparkling blue waters.

Beecher Falls, VT is the birthplace of Ethan Allen Furniture. This plant and its grounds have the unique distinction of being bordered by another state, New Hampshire and a foreign country, Canada.  A largely Canadian and religious population inhabits this town.

Bloomfield, VT is very similar to Lemington-- with rural country roots.   Homesteads based around farming follow the Connecticut River south on Route 102 and into Vermont on Route 105.

Canaan, VT is on the shores of the Connecticut River, directly across from a neighboring community of West Stewartstown in NH. Chartered in 1782, it was part of the underground railroad during the Civil War. Wallace Pond is northwest of the village, lying between Vermont and Canada. Mt. Monadnock, rising to 3,141 feet is just south of town and any hiker on a quest for adventure may seek out the abandoned site of a gold mine and fire lookout tower.

Island Pond, VT is located at the junction of Routes 114 and 105 on the shores of Island Pond, in the town of Brighton. It is the "Gateway to the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge Nulhegan Basin."

Lemington, VT is one of the many towns originally granted to Samuel Averill of Connecticut.  Fertile farmlands line the Connecticut River and the p0pulation remains small filled with closeknit generations of families.

Norton, VT on Route 114 is a United States/Canadian International Border crossing.  Vastly rural, this region houses Lake Wallace and relaxing lodging establishments for guests to enjoy the peace and quiet of the North Country.
