Paddling-- Kayak, Canoe, Raft!
A wide range of paddling opportunities are available in the North Country. With several great rivers within a half hour of Colebrook, the Great North Woods is an excellent place to try your hand at canoeing, kayaking and white water rafting. To the north, the Connecticut Lakes and River offer miles of secluded waterways teeming with fish and wildlife- perfect for exploring with canoes or kayaks. To the east lie three primary New England white water destinations- The Androscoggin, the Rapid and the Magalloway River. In addition to white water adventure, Lake Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge offers great fishing, camping opportunities and wild life tours.

Northern Forest Canoe Trail
"The NFCT extends for 740 miles across contiguous rivers, streams, and lakes, following Native American travel routes from Old Forge, New York, through Vermont, Québec, and New Hampshire, to Fort Kent, Maine. In addition to being a paddling route, the Trail celebrates the history of the Northern Forest. Paddlers will be able to explore both the natural beauty of the rivers and lakes as well as the communities through which the trail passes."
