To the north, the Connecticut Lakes and River offer miles of secluded waterways teeming with fish and wildlife- perfect for exploring with canoes or kayaks. To the east lie three primary New England white water destinations- The Androscoggin, the Rapid and the Magalloway River. Northern Forest Canoe Trail
"The NFCT extends for 740 miles across contiguous rivers, streams, and lakes, following Native American travel routes from Old Forge, New York, through Vermont, Québec, and New Hampshire, to Fort Kent, Maine. In addition to being a paddling route, the Trail celebrates the history of the Northern Forest. Paddlers will be able to explore both the natural beauty of the rivers and lakes as well as the communities through which the trail passes." (Courtesy of northernforestcanoetrail.org)
Connecticut River Paddlers' Trail
The Paddlers' Trail is a series of primitive campsites and access points from the river’s headwaters south to Long Island Sound. It is managed by a group of partner organizations who collaborate with trail development and stewardship. This website is designed to serve as a gateway for those seeking to explore the river. Have a great journey!
